Hey hey Sassy Babes!
Whilst winter makes up its mind about whether it’s here to stay or not and we all say goodbye to December festivities and cheer, some of us have been busy bees behind the scenes.
Our favourite Ghana babe, Barbara, has been working on Sassy Tees’ rebrand. As part of that rebrand, we’re thrilled to announce she’s brought me on board to join the team!
As a long-time fan and supporter of Sassy Tees, and a long-term colleague of Sassy Tees’ founder, Barbara, on the campaigning and activist scene, I’ve watched and admired the way Barbara puts her all into everything she does. Whether that’s campaigning on the frontlines against cuts to public funding and increases in tuition fees, or raising awareness around HIV/AIDS and working to destigmatise those affected by it, or advocating for abortion rights and all women’s prerogative to decide what they do with their bodies - Barbara is always there, using and passing the mic.
And it’s with that same spirit that she founded Sassy Tees. I hope in my new role as Creative Director I can add to and amplify the brilliant work of Sassy Tees. We aim to become more of a lifestyle brand - your stylish best friend who is on the pulse of popular culture, unafraid to speak their mind, bold in their support of progressive radical meaningful politics and happy to clapback at anybody who has an issue with that.
Keep an eye out for new collections, collaborations with influencers, events, look-books and a revived blog too.
You’ll be hearing more from me in the coming weeks and months but I wanted to introduce myself. It’s an interesting time for me in my career as I wrap up long term projects I’ve worked on for years and embark upon new creative ventures. I’m also thrilled to be starting the year off by collaborating with Barbara and other phenomenal Black British women on our ‘Re-imagining Black Britain’ Conference, taking place this Saturday in Birmingham.
There are still a limited number of tickets left - get yours right here and come and re-imagine with us: firstname.lastname@example.org.
They say two heads are better than one and I’m really looking forward to what this partnership has in store.
